Hello there!

My name is Jess Mumme (muh-mee)

Early on in life I knew photography was going to be a big part of my life. In 2012 I started photographing weddings and families. I started my photography business in 2013 called Jess Marie Photography, which is still thriving today!

I grew up in Plymouth, MI with my mom and brother. I graduated from nursing school in 2015 and had to figure out how to juggle nursing and photography. Let’s just say my summers were busy!

The mountains are calling

After becoming a psychiatric nurse, I moved from Michigan to Colorado in 2017, I lived in Estes Park over the next 3 years. I continued taking photos of family and so many elopements. It’s a gorgeous place to elope and I loved that I could be apart of so many couples’ big day.

I met my husband Eric while working at a Detox facility. We decided in 2020 we would be travel nurses. We bought a RAM Promaster and Eric built it into our house-on-wheels!

From Colorado we traveled to Washington state, Montana, Wyoming and everywhere that brought us happiness.

Changing things up

We worked through 2020 and 2021 as psychiatric travel nurses. As beautiful as it was to see our gorgeous country, we got major burnout from working.

In Dec 2021 we eloped in Deadwood, South Dakota then bought a little house in Minnesota to be closer to Eric’s family. During this time, I worked at an old fishing resort, cleaning rooms and welcoming guests. In my downtime, I started taking pictures of the resort to show it’s vintage charm. The owners took a liking to my photos and hired me as the company photographer for 25+ resorts. This is where I learned all about marketing for other businesses and product photography!

I traveled for all over the country, meeting with managers and creating a plan for how to best showcase their business. I learned how to fly the drone and perfected filmmaking and editing. It was a great experience!

Back to Michigan

After a fun 3 years, we decided it was time to settle down in Michigan by my mom.

So August 2024 we bought some acreage and a quaint house! I went back to nursing in the meantime, but my passion is to work with businesses in this area — to help them grow and keep the tourism alive in the summer. This is where Spotted Olive Creative Co was born. I think everyone up in northeast Michigan can agree that we love our peace and quiet, that is why we live here. However, having thriving businesses in the summer is what keeps this area alive and flourishing.

We are still getting used to Harrisville, but we have big plans for our little homestead! I have lots of gardening ideas, we are getting chickens for the first time, and we will be renovating for the next few years. Eric is an awesome builder.
